Melting point: 2528 °C – Elektron emissivity: < 4 eV – dark purple powder insoluble in water.
Lanthanum hexaboride has a very low work function (Electron emissivity) and is mainly used for cathode coatings for Plasma technology, vacuum coating, electron beam guns and Xray applications.
